What went well this week?

As we come to the end of the week, ask yourself: “what has gone well this week?” Please take 3 minutes to answer:

-Why was it a success?

-What did you do to make it a success?

-How did you feel during that moment? Can you try to recreate the feeling?

-After acknowledging your success, can you express gratitude for it?

This is a very simple exercise to turn your awareness to “nailed it” moments in your life, to help our brain cement those experiences, rewire on positive feelings, and boost self-esteem. It fosters agency and helps recognize behaviors that resulted in gains, while practicing gratitude. Super combo!

The world is pretty quick (and rough) to tell us when we did fell short, so we have to take ownership and recognize ourselves for all the wins we made happen.

Could you take up the “What went well?” exercise and do it once a week/day? Putting it down on paper would be ideal. As the year goes by, some weeks/days can be harder. Having that little stash of “star moments” will remind you all the skills you have to make the next week/day better, will help you recognize personality traits that enable success, and keep the wins alive. This is core to sustain a positive mindset and cultivate a growing self esteem. Let me know how it went!
