New Season Tune Up
After one of the driest summers, cooler weather has arrived! Seasons are a beautiful reminder of living life in cycles and welcoming change. If we are in routines we enjoy, it is hard to think about change because the weather did…but this alignment can bring interesting possibilities; introducing variety, a sense of wonder and discovery and harmony with the environment.
Let’s take fall…it is a wonderful respite to the long, hot busy summer. Here are some things to spice up your routine:
-Take your workouts outside: longer walks, even taking your weights to the backyard!
-Visit Farmers Markets: they are very bountiful and different to a couple of weeks ago. What recipes can you try and add to your repertoire and replace some of the Summer ones?
-Spices: It is the perfect time to add more warming spices to your coffees and (healthy) baked munchies. They are anti-inflammatory, full of polyphenols and taste…think nutmeg, cloves, cinnamon (avoid the ultra-processed pumpkin spiced everything - it is a sugar trap!)
-Is there something you want to try? a class? a hobby? these season changes are great for new beginnings!
-Think if there is something you want to do less off? Stop now, while making other changes, it may feel less of a burden
-Do you feel you want to spend more time in your house as it gets cooler? What is something you’d like to modify? move furniture around, make unexpensive updates that makes your home more welcoming
-Gardening: even in a small apartment you can have some planters with herbs or flowers. Taking care of something, see it grow brings joy and keeps you active (if your garden is bigger than a pot!)
How are you planning to spice up your routine?
